I have often written about the importance of understanding our history and lamented the fact that many Americans don’t understand the founding ideals and values of our American fight for liberty. True liberty and the system of governance put together once independence was won from Great Britain was the Articles of Confederation. It was a loose alliance of the free and sovereign States of the united States of America. It was a government with very limited powers and maximum individual liberties for the States and the individual.

Fast forward to 1787 and the Constitutional Convention was called to amend the original Articles of Confederation because of the inability of the congress to raise taxes due to its limited authority and need for unanimous decisions. The delegates instead of amending the Articles created a new Constitution which needed to be ratified by only 9 of the 13 States. There was much debate at the time from patriots from all the various States on the wisdom of creating a much stronger centralized federal government but it did pass and the United States of America was born.

The aim of the new government was to form a Republican form of government and the ratification was contingent on there being a Bill of Rights to protect the individual liberty that the war of independence was fought over. I would urge all Americans to do your research and listen to the arguments both for and against the forming of the new federal government. The writings of both sides prove the undeniable passion of both sides both for and against ratification of the new constitution. It also shows the incredible foresight these American patriots had in their arguments for and against this new form of governance.

Fast forward now 240 years after the ratification of the Declaration of Independence and you will see the worst fears of the anti-federalists have come to pass. The government has outgrown its powers and our liberties have been trampled. I have often used the analogy of what happened to the Roman republic to what has happened to the original intention and vision of the American republic. Ultimately the centralization of power leads to the seeking of building an empire and an expansion of power at the expense of liberty. The ultimate irony is the same tactics are used, bread and circuses to distract the people as their liberties are usurped and their government inevitably falls under the economic weight of maintaining an empire.

Now we have an opportunity to set things right, to as Benjamin Franklin said when asked what kind of government they had given us was. “A republic if you can keep it”. The key to liberty has always been and forever shall be vigilance. We must take this chance while politicians are speaking of appointing original constitutionalists as Supreme Court justices to hold them accountable. This time we must ensure that they have the Supreme Court reverse the course of the government back to its enumerated powers and at the same time that they must cut the government down to size.

It is time to dismantle the leviathan government piece by piece. The American people were promised that this administration would be our voice and restore a government for the people, of the people and by the people. That’s why it is up to us to now take over the narrative. Take control from the media and the government elites and cut down the government bureaucracy and eliminate the usurpations of our rights. It is time to remind the government that our rights are God given and therefore cannot be taken away by legislation, adjudication or executive actions. It is time that unconstitutional powers such as those granted by the Patriot Act and the NDAA be rescinded and the American people’s rightful rights be restored.

I would suggest you read the attached post for it is highly informative of the historical parallels between Ancient Rome and modern day America. I would also suggest you read or listen to the Great Debates a course on the arguments for and against ratification of our present constitution. Become aware of your history because if you don’t know where you came from you can easily be fooled into becoming something that you are not. We are meant to enjoy free will to be governed under our Creator with minimal government interference in our pursuit of happiness.

We are very far away from where we should be as a country and as individuals. Learn your past so that together we can forge our common future and reclaim our hard fought birthright to righteous liberty. Be a voice of inspiration and a source of knowledge to your fellow man. Help to enlighten your fellow man so that the spark of righteous liberty may engulf the hearts and minds of Americans into a force that spreads across our land. Then and only then when we have shown the world what living in a system of self governance is like we can lead the world through our example to evolve to the next step in humanity’s destiny. Leading to a world where liberty will lead to righteousness, personal responsibility, prosperity and good will to all Mankind.
