Liberty In Peril

It’s sad to think it but you just can’t help but wonder, does anybody care? We live in the land where liberty was fought for and won against the mightiest empire the world had yet seen. Against all odds, men of courage, principle and honor established a land where all men were viewed as equals under God. We were to live in a land where our fortunes and our destinies were ours to mold not to be controlled by a government or the whims of a monarch.
We were meant to live free pursuing happiness by embracing liberty and creating our own destiny. We were supposed to treasure and protect our inalienable rights to find the happiness that freedom from tyranny affords. Yet somewhere soon after the blood spilled and the sacrifices necessary were forgotten we lost sight of protecting our hard-won gains. The constitution we were told was in place to ensure it, and with that promise we let down our guard and the road to tyranny was paved.
Two hundred and forty-three years ago what is going on now in this country would’ve been viewed as intolerable. The insufferable laws, regulations and usurpations of our liberties to speak, travel freely, defend ourselves and most importantly enjoy a reasonable expectation of privacy are an abomination worth fighting over. We live in a world where our every movement, every action is monitored even in our homes. You can ignore it but you can’t deny it so where is the outrage?
Even innocents who have nothing to do with the immense accumulation of power or the patriots who oppose it are being injured, killed, or unjustly imprisoned on false charges easily manipulated by the abilities they have to control the internet and all connected devices. We live in a land where the illusion of freedom is that and nothing more. Where our collective individual rights are being destroyed & a police state growing in capability to unlawfully surveil our every movement expands their scope. Liberty is being trampled & the constitution hasn’t done anything to stop it or control it.
Unfortunately, Liberty is in peril and the only way to save it; is the American people must be willing to fight and if necessary, die for it. We can’t sit back and watch or ignore as people are attacked, intimidated, imprisoned and murdered without being emotionally compelled to act. Remember how we felt on September 12, 2001. We cherished our families, embraced our faith and were angered seeking justice and even vengeance against who we were led to believe were responsible.
Now I ask you if we were willing to go to war in Afghanistan to punish those, we were told were responsible, would you be willing to fight the government if it was, they who did it? If you knew that our government was murdering people and stealing your rights as they look to enslave you and your posterity what would you be willing to do? Would you look away and feign ignorance or apathy, or be driven to righteous indignation and be prepared to do whatever you could to ensure that liberty not only survives but burns brightly across the world?
No need to answer these questions as history will show if the American experiment of self-governance is sustainable or if tyranny wins out. Individually we will either do our part to regain our liberties and our inalienable rights or will not. History is written by the victors so there is no guarantee that this battle between good and evil will be accurately captured. When we all look in the mirror the truth will be there for us all to see for ourselves. Did I do what I could to ensure liberty for my family and country or fail to engage in the never-ending battle between good and evil or sit it out distracted by bread and circuses or cowardice and fear.

The Truth About Medicare

Posted in Politics, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on August 28, 2012 by authorcarloscardoso

There have been many political ads trying to scare America’s seniors into believing that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan wish to end Medicare and break our commitment to our seniors, nothing could be further from the truth. Quite to the contrary, they are the only candidates who have promised to keep Medicare benefits for all Americans 55 or older. Beginning with keeping the $716 billion dollars being taken out by Obamacare to help fund it, believing our seniors deserve what they paid into and worked for their whole lives, and were promised. Obama made no effort to strengthen the program in his first term, ignoring Medicare completely, knowingly allowing it to head towards bankruptcy making it unavailable to future generations.

Obama’s plan allows Medicare to go bankrupt in 2024 without offering a solution. It takes over $716 billion from the program for Obamacare and then empowers 15 bureaucrats to make further cuts who are unelected and unaccountable to congressional overview. The Romney approach differs greatly from Obama’s; together with Paul Ryan they have bipartisan support for keeping benefits intact for anyone 55 or older. They also want to ensure that the promises made to all other Americans are sustainable and will be there when they need it. Obama‘s trying to scare you because as he said himself as a candidate in 2008, when you have no new ideas to offer, no record to run on, you resort to trying to use scare tactics against your opponent.

The truth is there’s been a lack of leadership, four years and nothing to brag about but the passage of Obamacare, a hugely unpopular law adding one trillion dollars in taxes on top of the theft of over $700 billion from Medicare to pay for it. We were told it was not a tax yet it is actually the largest tax increase in American history The Romney, Ryan plan is to keep that money in Medicare where it belongs and work from day one towards enacting the full repeal of Obamacare. This alone eliminates a trillion dollar tax increase, while undoing another entitlement program that we ultimately can’t afford. The president promised he would cut the deficit in half in his first term, another broken campaign promise, instead he added $5 trillion in additional debt, all in just four years. Spending without budgeting restraint, helped by the fact that ally Senator Harry Reid has not allowed a vote on a budget on the Senate floor since 2009.

The choice on Medicare is simple, you have Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan vowing to keep our promises to all Americans 55 or older while working on a bipartisan plan to ensure we can offer future generations a Medicare program they can rely on. The other choice is Obamacare and its decimation of Medicare by stealing over $716 billion, straddling us with debt, building an entitlement program with a trillion dollar tax increase on top of the $5 trillion dollars he has added to the deficit. Unfortunately Obama’s distorting the Romney plan, because after four years he has no plan, no vision and no record. No path towards saving Medicare while speeding up its destruction so he must resort to scare tactics.

Obama and the Attack Against Religious Freedom

Posted in Politics, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 16, 2012 by authorcarloscardoso

The Obama administration’s latest attack against the Constitution with Secretary Sebellius forcing religious institutions to have to pay for things against their beliefs is a blatant attack not only against the Catholic Church but the First Amendment. The uproar caused the administration to reconsider its position and offer an alternative while saying they can go no further. The audacity and argument is arrogant especially coming from a President who taught Constitutional Law. The First Amendment is clear, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof”. This so called compromise of not forcing The Church to pay for the coverage but requiring the insurance companies to pay for it is another example of this President’s political posturing. The church which employs many Americans in supplying needed social services such as universities of higher learning, hospitals and charity services to the poor has reacted to this outrage led by the Catholic Bishops threatening legal action. The administration’s so called compromise was a ruse and an outright lie. The President knows the constitution bars the federal government from this mandate and both Secretary Sebellius and President Obama must be held accountable. This is not an argument about the availability of contraceptions or the morning after pill being available to women as Secretary Sebellius has argued. This is an orchestrated attack on the Constitution of the United States. Our liberties are being attacked through monstrous legislation such as the Affordable Patient Healthcare Act. Remember then Speaker Pelosi saying we had to pass this bill to find out what was in it. It seems the more we learn the more we see why this bill was written to be thousands of pages long to hide government intrusion on our liberties and freedoms. People of good conscience must stand together to fight to retain our freedoms and restrain the government as our Constitution was intended to do. The argument cannot be allowed to be framed in the context of healthcare choices and or availability. This is a direct attack on our right to freedom of religion being beyond the power of the federal government to interfere in. All Americans of all Christian denominations and believers in our Republic and its values must stand united against this affront to all of us. The view of President Obama who called the Constitutiton a document of negative liberty because it retained the power in the hands of the people and not the federal government is out of touch with our founding values and the majority of patriotic Americans across this land. When one listens to the words of Supreme court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg telling the Egyptian people not to model their constitution after ours, saying there are better more modern ones to choose from is reprehensible conduct and shows we must free ourselves from these people. The attack by Obama and his cohorts must be stopped. The Constitution must be defended, clearly the actions and statements of President Obama, Secretary of Health and Human Services Sebellius and Supreme Court Justice Ginsberg are grounds for their dismissal. The Constitution allows for changes and as such is a living document through the amendment process, not by legislative action, executive orders or judicial activism. Washington must be purged of these people who do not believe in our Constitution and are clearly not defending or upholding it which is their responsibility and the oath they took. The line has been crossed and we must take our country back in November and return to the limited government our founding fathers gave us. Benjamin Franklin when asked what kind of government they had given us after the Constitutional Convention answered, ” A republic ma’am if you can keep it.” The time has come for us to join together to ensure we keep it for ourselves and our posterity.

The United States, Iran and The Obama Administration

The government of Iran has for years lied and tried to advance not only their nuclear ambitions but regional and world power goals. Iran has been supplying both Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in the Gaza Strip in constant terrorist attacks against Israel who it has threatened to wipe off of the map. Iran has been implicated in training and supplying materials to kill Americans in both Afghanistan and Iraq a provocation which our government has publicly condemned yet did nothing to combat these acts of war. Former FBI agent, Robert Levinson was abducted in March of 2007 and recent statements by our State Department indicate he was being held in an undisclosed Iranian prison. Unaccounted for almost 5 years now apparently detained by Iran with no action on his release or statement by the Iranian regime on his whereabouts or reason for his imprisonment. Then the US government exposes a plot by Iran with Mexican drug cartels to murder the Saudi Embassador to the UN in New York and again this administration did nothing. The administration was silent when the Iranian people rose up against Ahmadinejad’s election but supported the ouster of US ally Hosni Mubarak who kept the peace with Israel for 30 years. Generally supported the so called Arab Spring calling it the rise and spread of democracy which isn’t an American value. He even went so far as to support Libyan rebels and ensnare the US military in an unconstitutional war without seeking the required congressional consent. Democracy is a part of our republican society with the values of tolerance, liberty and freedom without which democracy can lead to tryanny as it did in Iran when the Ayatollah Khomeni came in and enslaved his people.

Recently the Iranians came in possesion of a U.S. RQA-170 drone with stealth capability that they claim they were able to take control of and capture. The Administration’s response was to ask for it back to no avail. Giving the Iranians an intelligience prize they claim to be using to retro engineer to learn its secrets. They have threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz where 60% of the world’s oil supply travels through. This closure would destroy an already fragile world economy by raising the price of a barrel of oil dramatically. They objected to the presence of the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis in the Persian Gulf supporting the US 5th Fleet right before the 10 day Iranian naval excercise. Then the Iranians fired a medium range surface to air missile which they claim had technology to combat radar evading targets and systems to target missile navigation.

The U.S. responded in a humanitarian effort, rescued 13 Iranian fishermen held hostage by Somali pirates ironically with forces from the USS John C. Stennis. How do the Iranians respond? They announce another round of naval excercises which the US Navy will have to monitor closely as the Strait of Hormuz must remain open. Now the administration yesterday dismissed the upcoming trip of Iranian President Ahmadinejad to South America where he is visiting Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba and Ecuador. These are all nations with leaders who are virulently anti-American. Chavez, Ortega, Castro are all communists and Correa, the President of Ecuador who is an avowed socialist. There must come a time and soon where the Iranians can no longer be dismissed but must be confronted for the force of evil in the world that they are. We cannot allow Iran to become involved in this hemisphere or be allowed to aquire nuclear weapons. We ignore the implications of these relationships with no thought of the consequences to our national security when we have an unsecured border where Hamas and Hezbollah literature were found that Iran can exploit in conjunction with these South American enemies.

TSA Rules

Posted in Uncategorized on November 18, 2010 by authorcarloscardoso

The new TSA rules implemented against the American people are illegal and certainly unconstitutional. This is intrusive and therefore an unreasonable search in the absence of probable cause as stated in the fourth amendment. We are a nation of laws and the federal government is infringing on our individual liberties and they must be stopped. The executive branch does not have the power to rule by decree. We are a republic  based on individual and state rights. This means that we are sovereign and so are the states that give to the federal government through our consent, limited powers. The actions of this administration and current congressional leadership must be stopped and challenged especially until this lame duck session is over. They continue to overstep their authority with impunity in the face of a historical repudiation at the ballot box. We must remain ever vigiliant and committed to the cause of liberty. The administration must be reigned in by the congress who ultimately controls the budget and can stop government expansion and even must look for ways to shrink the bureacracy further.

The Federal Reserve

The actions of the Federal Reserve recently buying our own debt must be stopped and reversed. The Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke’s decision is devaluing our money, stealing money from the American people and must be stopped. History has shown that printing money leads to inflation.  We need oversight and accountability to us the people of the United States. The Fed must be audited and transparency restored with additional oversight to ensure they are truly working in our best interest.

2010 Victory

The elections of 2010 showed the power of the people to enact change at the ballot box. Winning an important battle but the war is far from over. Highly funded opposition to constitutional government is poised to take the fight to us. We must overcome this radical challenge for the  heart and soul of our nation. We must remain vigilant and continue to organize to take our country back to her roots. The concept of State and individual sovereignty must be reinforced. The future of the republic was never meant to be controlled by the judiciary branch interpreting the constitution and its limits on federal government power.  The individual states have the power to supercede or nullify federal law. They also have the right of seccesion as shown by the actions and the precedents established by our Founding Fathers.
