The Debt Ceiling Debate

This is the single most important debate on whether or not the American Republic as we know it will survive. The President has the nerve to blame the Republicans for this impending disaster. The budget should have been completed in the past congress when the Democrats had control of both houses and the presidency yet did not complete their constitutional responsibility to do so. President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Reid and former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi should explain to the American people why this vital responsibility was left uncompleted until after the midterm elections and the lame duck session. Was this a calculated political move with an eye towards the upcoming election of 2012, let them explain it instead of playing the blame game which is a farce.

Our government is bloated and has become even more so during the Obama administration’s time in power. The government needs to be shrunk to where it doesn’t cost us a penny borrowed to pay for a responsible government. The Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke also entered into the fray with his attacks on Republicans as well. His comments are incredulous given the facts. He accused the Republicans of possibly damaging the dollar when his own policies of printing money and inflating the money supply has done more intentional damage to the value of our currency and our way of life than any other person in history. An investigation into the activities of the Federal Reserve is needed urgently and anyone found guilty of improper conduct should be held legally accountable.

The final slap to the American people by this administration, is their argument that they need additional revenues to go with spending cuts. This from an administration which if it had our best interests at heart could increase revenue, improve our security and save our economy by opening up American natural resources to American companies. Freeing them to hire American workers to tap into our vast reserves of oil, natural gas and coal that could transform us back to prosperity. American energy independance is vital to our future prosperity and the only way to get ourselves out of this massive hole we have dug for ourselves. This is an unbelievable pool of resources left untouched to what purpose and why? Our government needs to allow for the private sector to create jobs by getting out of the way and let capitalism do what it does best, innovate and create. To me, I believe $14.3 Trillion in debt needs to be paid down not added to. We owe it to our future children, grandchildren and citizens of future generations to inherit this world free of debt. It is our moral duty, it is time to make the correct but difficult choices that must be made. Republicans must hold fast and it is up to Speaker Boehner to lead in the absence of real leadership from the president and the senate.

    • President Obama has shown nothing but utter contempt for the constitution. His actions in Libya are unconstitutional and he has not given the American people a rationale for the mission, under what authority this action was undertaken and what about the cost as we debate our future debt limit.
